Create a dial-up connection with Windows 2000 Before following the instructions below, use the Verizon Online Dial-up Access number tool to choose a local dial-up access phone number.

  1. From the desktop, right-click My Network Places and select Properties from the menu.
  2. Double-click Make New Connection.
  3. From the Network Connection Wizard, click Next.
  4. Select Dial-up to the Internet, and then click Next.
  5. Select I want to set up my Internet connection manually, or I want to connect through a local area network (LAN), and then click Next.
  6. Select I connect through a phone line and a modem, and then click Next.
  7. Enter the local dial-up access number you selected, and then click Next.
  8. Enter VZ/ followed by your User Name (or your User ID), enter your password, and then click Next.
  9. In the Connection Name field, type Verizon Online, and then click Next.
  10. Select No to setting up an Internet mail account, and then click Next.
  11. Click Finish.
  12. From the Network and Dial-Up Connections window, double-click the new Verizon Online icon to connect.
  13. If you are having difficulties establishing a connection, return to step 8 and remove VZ/ while leaving your User Name (or your User ID), then entering your password.
For each hour beyond your usage threshold, you incur a charge that is prorated to the nearest minute and billed in one-minute increments. This charge is based on your service plan.
