Create a dial-up connection with Macintosh 8 - 9 Before following the instructions below, use the Verizon Online Dial-up Access number tool to choose a local dial-up access phone number.

  1. From the Apple menu, select Control Panels, and then select Remote Access.
  2. In the Name field, enter VZ/ followed by your User Name (or your User ID).
  3. Enter your password in the Password field.
  4. Enter the local dial-up access number you selected in the Number field, and then click Options.
  5. On the Redialing tab, verify that Redial is set to Off. Select the Connection tab.
  6. Verify that Flash icon in menu bar while connected and disconnect if idle for 10 minutes are selected. Select the Protocol tab.
  7. Verify that the first three check boxes are selected, then click OK.
  8. Click Apple, Control Panels, TCP/IP.
  9. From Connect via select PPP.
  10. From Configure select Using PPP Server, and leave other fields blank.
  11. Select Options.
  12. Verify that Make TCP/IP is active and Load only when needed is selected, and then select OK.
  13. Click Apple, Control Panels, Remote Access.
  14. Click Connect.
