An email alias can be useful to you in order to personalize your email account. For example, you can create an email alias that is easy for others to remember like YourName@verizon.net. The alias in no way changes your user name and does not create a new mailbox; it becomes the mailing name associated with your primary account and is immediately ready to use.
Example
Email address: res85go@verizon.net
Email alias: john.smith@verizon.net
Any email sent to res85go@verizon.net or john.smith@verizon.net is delivered to the res85go@verizon.net mailbox.
