Importing your Address Book into Outlook 98/2000
  1. Start Outlook.
  2. From the File menu select Import and Export.
  3. Select Import Internet Mail and Addresses and click Next.
  4. Select the application that contains the address book you wish to import into Outlook.

  5. NOTE: If the application you wish to import the addresses from is not listed in the Outlook Import Tool, export the address book from the source application into a CSV (comma separated values) file. This file type can then be imported into Outlook via its Import and Export Wizard.

  6. Clear the Import Mail and Import Rules checkboxes and click Next.
  7. Select a destination for the address you are importing:

    • Outlook Contacts Folder - address book contents will be imported into the Outlook Contacts Folder
    • Personal Address Book - address book contents will be imported into the Outlook Personal Address Book
  8. Select an import option:

    • Replace duplicates with items imported - Existing records will be overwritten with the new data that is being imported.
    • Allow duplicates to be created - Existing records will not be overwritten, and duplicates will be added to the import destination you selected.
    • Do not import duplicate items - Existing records will be retained, and the duplicate data will not be copied to the import destination you selected.
  9. Click Finish. The Outlook Import Tool searches the selected application's address book, importing its contents into Outlook.
  10. On the Import Summary window click OK.
