Changing your computer screen resolution
Modifying your computer's screen resolution changes the appearance of your desktop, making images on your screen appear larger or smaller.
Windows
Right-click on your desktop and locate your screen resolution settings:
- (Windows Vista) Select Personalize and then Display Settings
- (Windows XP) Select Properties and then the Settings tab.
- (Windows 7) Select Screen Resolution and the Resolution drop-down
Mac 10.5 and higher
1. Select the Apple menu.
2. Select System Preferences
3. In Hardware, select Displays to view your screen resolution option settings.
Note: Not all computers support higher resolutions. If a higher resolution is not available in your settings, consult your computer user manual or your computer manufacturer.
Changing your text/font size
After you adjust your screen resolution, your screen's text/font size also changes. If your screen's text/font size is too small or big, you can adjust the size.
Windows
Right-click on your desktop and locate your text size settings:
- (Windows XP): Select Properties and then the Appearance tab.
- (Windows Vista): Select Personalize and then Adjust font size (DPI)
- (Windows 7): Select Screen Resolution and then Make text and other items larger or smaller.
Mac 10.5 and higher
From Safari, select Command/Shift and + (increase text size) or – (to decrease text size)
