How does the Firewall work (Windows)?

Verizon Internet Security Suite Firewall prevents intruders from accessing your system when you are online. People with malicious intent can invade your computer to delete or corrupt files on your system, hunt down personal information stored on your computer, or even read your email.

Firewall tools help you control how your Internet-enabled programs connect to the Internet and share files over the Internet. You set access rules to control how these processes are handled.

When a program accesses the Internet for the first time, the Firewall checks the application against a trusted application list. The firewall automatically creates a rule based on the information provided by the trusted list. If you want more control over application rule creation you can change the settings to request user approval. At installation, your firewall is already enabled with default settings.

To change your Firewall settings:

  1. From Verizon Internet Security Center, select Firewall in the main status area.
  2. Click Settings.Your Firewall is automatically configured to provide core protection
