FiOS Internet Solution Center

What factors affect the speed of my Internet access? Internet browsing speeds can be slowed down by:
  • Components within your computer, such as processor speed, the amount of available memory, operating system, and computer configuration variables.

  • The number of applications that are running at the same time.

  • The number of computers (or other devices) that share your Internet connection.

  • The quality and condition of the wiring connecting your computer(s) to the Verizon network.

  • The wireless standard you may be using - for example, wireless routers that use the older 802.11b standard are not optimized for FiOS service. Wireless equipment that Verizon provides for FiOS service uses the 802.11g standard.

Note: Only Verizon-supplied routers are supported.
