Can I choose from a list instead of guessing at the right search words? Sure. Directory sites let you scroll through a list of pages on almost any subject. Directories such as Yahoo! organize Web pages into hierarchies so you can see a list of Web pages under a particular heading.

On directory sites, you can click the headings for the subjects you want, and then scroll through a list of Web pages related to your subject of choice.

Technically, search engines differ from directories. Search engines, such as Google, index certain key words on a Web page so you can search for them. But since most search-engine sites also feature directories, and most directory sites have search engines, so you can probably find a directory on most any search site.
