Why do I get poor search results? The first answer is spelling. Make sure the word you are looking for is typed correctly.

Also, don't try to out think the Web pages or second-guess the search engine. If you want to find out about the famous pilot Chuck Yeager, who first broke the sound barrier while flying an X-1, typing "Chuck Yeager" gets better results than "pilots" or "X-1" or "sound barrier."

To get a result about Chuck Yeager breaking the sound barrier in an X-1, search for:

"Chuck Yeager" X-1 "sound barrier"
