Using Device Manager to verify a network interface card Select your operating system from the list below.
Windows 2000 and XP Home
  1. From the Windows desktop, right-click My Computer and select Properties. The System Properties dialog box displays.
  2. Select the Hardware tab.
  3. Select Device Manager. The Device Manager dialog box displays.
  4. Click the plus sign for Network adapters. If your computer has a Network Interface Card, the adapter name is displayed.

Windows XP Professional

  1. Click Start in the lower left corner of your desktop and select Control Panel from the pop-up menu.
  2. Click System.
  3. Select the Hardware tab.
  4. Select Device Manager. The Device Manager dialog box displays.
  5. Click the plus sign for Network adapters. If your computer has a Network Interface Card, the adapter name is displayed.

Windows Vista

Note: You must be logged on as an administrator to access Device Manager in Windows Vista.

  1. Click the Start button in the left Taskbar
  2. Click Control Panel. [Show Me]
  3. Select Hardware and Sound in Control Panel. [Show Me]
  4. Click Device Manager in Control Panel Hardware and Sound. [Show Me]
  5. Click Continue if prompted to confirm you want to access Device Manager.
  6. Click the "+" before Network adapters. If your computer has a Network Interface Card, the adapter name is displayed.
