How does Spam Detector work? Spam Detector uses a monitoring system that consists of "dummy" email accounts from many popular email providers. Since these dummy accounts don't have an actual user, they only receive messages that are sent to mass audiences. The Spam Detector team of experts reviews the messages received in these dummy accounts. From their findings, these experts create a set of rules to identify spam. These rules are then applied to all incoming email for @verizon.net accounts. Messages that are determined to be spam are immediately deleted. The rules are constantly adjusted based on the type of spam received in these dummy accounts and through customer input.
