Moving emails based on the subject Moving emails based on the subject or content of the email is a very effective way to organize your emails. For example, if you have subscribed to a Yahoo group, you can have all the emails moved to a specified folder because the subject line includes the name of the group. You may want to move all the emails that include information about a hobby, area of interest, or any other topic moved to a specified folder where they are easy to find and can be saved for future reference.

  1. Start Outlook Express.

  1. Right click on Local Folders in the left navigation panel.


  2. Select New Folder from the pop-up menu. [Show Me]


  3. Enter a name for the folder where you want the emails that match this email rule to be moved.


  4. From the Tools menu, select Message Rules. [Show Me]


  5. Select Mail.


  6. If you have previously created an email rule, click New. The New Mail Rule dialog box will display.


  7. Select Where the Subject line contains specific words. [Show Me]


  8. Click contains specific words in the Rule Description section.


  9. Enter the words or phrase that identify it as an email you want to move and click Add. When you are finished entering words or phrases, click OK. [Show Me]

    If you are moving all emails from a Yahoo group, enter the name of the group. It is always included in braces in the subject line of the email.
