How do I connect to the Internet? When you have finished installing the software and connecting the cables, you are ready to connect to the Internet. If you have Verizon High Speed Internet, your computer can be set up to be connected to the Internet whenever your computer is on.

After your computer makes the connection to the Internet, it's all automatic. Here is what happens inside your computer:

Your browser, email program, and other software finds the Internet connection within your computer. Your computer uses the DSL line to connect to your Internet service provider, and your ISP connects to the Internet. Your software finds Web pages, sends and receives email, reads newsgroups, and downloads files through these connections. The Internet breaks the data you requested into packets and routes each packet separately. It also assembles all the packets of data you receive into Web pages or email messages.
