Why am I getting returned mail for messages I never sent? An unfortunate byproduct of the easy and widespread use of email is that hackers can use someone else's email server. Or spammers can simply put a fake return address on an email while using their own server. Either way, it's called "spoofing." If an undeliverable email that you did not send is returned to you, you have been victimized.

If your address is spoofed, it does not affect your use of your address. However, it can be unsettling, and since your name is on the spoofed email, some people may look to you as the originator of the content of the email.

You should report any returned email that you did not send to your Internet service provider for investigation.
