I can't check my email. Is my Internet connection lost? Checking email is a quick way to make sure your computer is connected to the Internet. You are connected if you can receive mail. If you can't, though, you may still have an Internet connection. If your browser can open a Web page, you are still connected and your problem is elsewhere.

The email server may have a sporadic problem.

The email program on your computer may be trying to use another Internet connection in your computer, even an outdated one. This is especially true if you have changed ISPs recently. Restarting your email program or your computer may solve the problem.

Be sure you are using the current user name and password for your account.
