Periodically changing the VersaLink 327W gateway WEP encryption key When data is transmitted between devices on a wireless network, the sending device uses the WEP key to encrypt the data while it travels via radio waves to the receiving device.The data is then decrypted using the same encryption key. If the WEP encryption key is not changed regularly, it is easier for hackers to capture enough data to figure out the encryption key.
