Creating a wired network with a Westell VersaLink 7500 gateway

Before you can connect a computer to your home network, you must configure Windows to automatically obtain an IP address for the VersaLink 7500 gateway.

The instructions and illustrations below use Windows XP. Although you can set up a network in Windows 98 SE, Me and 2000, you will find it significantly easier if the computer connected to the router or gateway is running Windows XP. Windows XP was designed with features and installation wizards specifically for networking.

To configure your NIC connection in Windows XP:

    1. Click Start in the left Taskbar.

    2. Right click My Network Places and select Properties.
    3. [Show Me]

    4. Right click the network connection for your Network Interface Card (NIC) and select Properties. [Show Me]
