Emptying your Recycle Bin You should empty your recycle bin on a regular basis to keep your computer running efficiently. When you delete a file, it is temporarily stored in the recycle bin in case you discover you need the file and want to restore it.

Although it is an important safety tool, the Recycle Bin can also slow your computer's performance unless you clear it out on a regular basis. You could have hundreds of files and megabytes of storage being used by files you no longer want or need.
