Filter installation: Connected phone devices If you have one phone device connected into another phone device, such as a phone plugged into an answering machine, you can install the connected devices and filter into one phone jack.

Remember: Installing filters on your phone devices is Step 1 of the Verizon High Speed Internet installation process. You need to install filters on all phone devices using a telephone line before installing your modem.You'll install your modem in Step 2 of the installation process.

Installing filters on connected phone devices:

  1. Plug the filter into the wall jack.

  2. Plug the connected machines into the filter. Important: Make sure the filter is first in the series and properly connected at the wall jack so the DSL signal cannot reach the other machines.
 
Remember:

  • Do not install a filter on your modem
  • Figure depicting not installing a filter on your modem

  • Do not install filters on empty phone jacks
