Residential Phone Services Solution Center

Setting Your Home Voice Mail Ring Count Note This service is available where facilities permit for a small additional monthly fee for Basic, Standard and Deluxe. It is included at no additional charge with OnePoint Voice Mail.

Use Ring Count Change to decide how quickly your calls are answered by your Home Voice Mail. You can change this setting as often as you like. Depending on your location, you will designate this setting either by the number of rings or the number of seconds.

To set up Ring Count Change:

  • Lift the handset and press 5 8 #

If you hear three short bursts of dial tone, the system is prompting you to enter the number of rings you want to hear before the call is forwarded to your mailbox. You can set the number of rings from 2-9.

For example, if you want your phone to ring twice before the call is forwarded to your mailbox, press 2; if you want your phone to ring 5 times, press 5.

OR

  • If you hear a normal dial tone, the system is prompting you to enter the number of seconds you want your phone to ring before the call is forwarded to your mailbox. (Refer to the rings-to-seconds conversion chart below to set the number of rings.)

For example: If you want your phone to ring twice before the call is forwarded to your mailbox, press 10; if you want your phone to ring 5 times, press 28.

Rings-to-seconds Conversion:

2 rings = 10 seconds
3 rings = 16 seconds
4 rings = 20 seconds
5 rings = 28 seconds
6 rings = 34 seconds
7 rings = 40 seconds
8 rings = 46 seconds
9 rings = 52 seconds

If you want to change your ring cycle, please call your local business office. With the Ring Count feature, you can choose how many times your phone will ring before Home Voice Mail picks up.

Set your Voice Mail system to answer after two rings, after eight rings or anywhere in between. Keep in mind that your callers will hear one or two rings more than the setting you select.

  1. Dial the Home Voice Mail system.

  2. When the system answers, enter your passcode.

  3. At the Main Menu, press 9 for Mailbox Option.

  4. Press 2 for Mailbox Settings.

  5. Press 3 for Ring Count and listen for additional instructions.
Note Ring Count Change is not an option if you use Call Forwarding Variable, Ultra Forward or Remote Call Forwarding to send your calls to your mailbox.
