Home Voice Mail - Quick Start Note A Home Voice Mail user guide is automatically mailed to you when your Home Voice Mail service order is processed. You can get additional copies, at no charge, online Setting up your Home Voice Mail
  1. Dial the access number you were given when you signed up for Home Voice Mail service.
    If you did not receive, have lost or forgotten your voice mail system access number, you can look it up online.


  2. If calling from your home phone, enter your temporary passcode – the last four digits of your telephone number.
    If you are calling from another phone, press * when you hear the system greeting, enter your 10-digit telephone number, then enter your temporary passcode.


Recorded voice instructions will guide your through each of these steps:
  1. Create a new password.
    Your new password must be a 4- to 8-digit number. It should be easy to remember but difficult for others to guess. Avoid using repeating digits (such as 1111), sequential digits (such as 1234), or any part of your telephone number.


  2. Record your name.


  3. Record or change your Personal Greeting.
    Callers will hear your Personal Greeting when they reach your mailbox.


  4. Record or change your Busy Greeting (available for Deluxe and OnePoint Voice Mail only)
    Callers will hear your Busy Greeting when you are using your telephone and your line is busy.
Retrieving your Home Voice Mail messages from home
  1. Lift your phone's receiver.
    If you have any new messages, you will hear an interrupted dial tone.


  2. Dial your system access number.
    If you did not receive, have lost or forgotten your voice mail system access number, you can look it up online.


  3. Enter your Passcode to reach the Home Voice Mail Main Menu.


  4. Press 1 to listen to your messages.


  5. Follow the automated instructions.
From another phone:
  1. Dial your access number.


  2. Enter your 10-digit home phone number


  3. Enter your passcode.


  4. At the Main Menu, press 1 to listen to your messages.


  5. Follow the automated instructions.
Retrieving your messages When you reach your Main Message Box, a voice prompt tells you how many new and saved messages you have and guides you through retrieving them.

You must save, erase, or skip each message before you can hear the next message.
Changing your password online You can reset your Voice Mail password online without registering to use the Verizon Web site. Other Home Voice Mail options The Home Voice Mail automated recording can guide you through several options that will customize your Home Voice Mail service, including:
  • Resetting or changing your password

  • Setting up an Automatic Password

  • Personalizing the Home Voice Mail standard greeting
