OnePoint Voice Mail - Quick Start   Note Product Instructions, containing OnePointSM Voice Mail information, are automatically mailed to you when your OnePoint Voice Mail service order is processed. However, you can read or download copy online also. Setting up your OnePoint Voice Mail
  1. Lift your phone's receiver and listen for a dial tone.


  2. Dial the access number you were given when you signed up for OnePoint Voice Mail service.

  3. Press * when you hear the greeting.


  4. If you are setting up the system from your own phone:

    • Enter your temporary passcode.
      This is the last four digits of your telephone number.


  5. If you are setting up the system from another phone:

    • Press *82 if you have Caller ID on your telephone.


    • Enter your 10-digit telephone number.


    • Enter your temporary passcode (the last four digits of your telephone number).
Recorded voice instructions will guide your through each of these steps:
  1. Create a new password.
    Your new password must be a 4- to 8-digit number. It should be easy to remember but difficult for others to guess. Avoid using repeating digits (such as 1111), sequential digits (such as 1234), or any part of your telephone number.


  2. Record your name.
    Your name is heard as part of the messages you send to other voice mail users.


  3. Record or change your Personal Greeting.
    Callers will hear your Personal Greeting when they reach your mailbox.


  4. Record or change your Busy Greeting
    Callers will hear your Busy Greeting when you are using your telephone and your line is busy.


  5. Set up individual mailboxes for family members.

Accessing OnePoint Voice Mail At Home:
  1. Lift your phone's receiver and listen for a dial tone.
    If you have any new messages, you will hear an interrupted dial tone.


  2. If you have messages, dial your access number.


  3. Enter your passcode.


  4. At the main menu, press 1.


  5. Follow the automated instructions.
Away From Home:
  1. Lift your phone's receiver and listen for a dial tone.


  2. Dial your access number , with area code when necessary.


  3. Wait for an answer, then press # at the greeting.


  4. Enter your 10-digit home phone number


  5. Enter your passcode.


  6. At the Main Menu, press 1.


  7. Follow the automated instructions.


Retrieving your messages When you reach your Main Message Box, a voice prompt tells you how many new and saved messages you have and guides you through retrieving them.

You must save, erase, or skip each message before you can hear the next message.
Changing your password online You can reset your Voice Mail password online without registering to use the Verizon Web site. Other OnePoint Voice Mail options You can customize your OnePoint Voice Mail service:
  • Reset or change your password

  • Record or change your greetings

  • Establish an extended absence message that your callers cannot skip

  • Set up features such as Reminder Service or Special Deliver.

  • Send a message to another Verizon voice mail subscriber.

Forwarding calls from other phone numbers Call Forwarding-No Answer/Busy Transfer is required on all phone numbers that forward to OnePoint Voice Mail. Depending on your Central Office, multiple phone numbers must be forwarded to either the system access number you use for OnePoint Voice Mail or to the phone number that has your OnePoint Voice Mail service (which will forward it to the system access number).

Instructions for your area are included in the confirmation email you receive when you order OnePoint Voice Mail. Please save the email for future reference.

If the service for your Multiple Number is provided by another carrier, please contact the carrier for assistance. Charges for call forwarding may vary by state and carrier. Long distance charges may apply. Alternate numbers located in a non-Verizon territory are subject to the operating telephone company's capabilities and may not be compatible or may require callers to reenter your telephone number in order to leave you a message. If your Verizon Wireless number will be answered by your OnePoint Voice Mail, you must use the No Answer/Busy Transfer feature included with your Verizon Wireless service to forward calls to your OnePoint Voice Mail.

To activate this feature on your Verizon Wireless phone:
  1. Press *71


  2. Depending on your Central Office, enter the forwarding telephone number or your OnePoint Voice Mail system access number.
    Your confirmation email lists the number you must use.


  3. Press Send.


To deactivate:
  1. Press *73


  2. When you hear the confirmation tone, press End.
