Switching to Verizon from another Internet Service Provider Each Internet Service Provider (ISP) has its own set of procedures for canceling service. Be sure to check with your old ISP for details on account cancellation obligations and procedures. For your convenience, we've included contact numbers and addresses for many ISPs in the table below.

If you are an MSN Premium Internet Software subscriber upgrading to Verizon High Speed Internet with MSN Premium you can use your existing MSN Premium user ID and password.

To discontinue MSN Premium billing, call MSN at (800) 494-2962. Be sure to identify yourself as a new Verizon High Speed Internet with MSN Premium subscriber so the MSN representative can transition your existing MSN email account and identity to your new Verizon High Speed Internet with MSN Premium account. If you have a term commitment with MSN, please ask the MSN representative to determine if there are any fees associated with transferring your account. If you have additional services from MSN, please make sure to advise the MSN representative.
Follow these steps to ensure a smooth transition to Verizon Online from another Internet Service Provider.

Step 1: Forward your email

  • Forward email from your old email address to your new Verizon Online address.

  • Notify your contacts of your new Verizon Online address with a personalized message.

Note: Please remember that you must leave your old account active for Return Path's email forwarding to work.


Step 2: Move your Bookmarks and Favorites

Import Bookmarks or Favorites into MSN Premium Internet software
  1. Open the navigation bar, click Favorites, and then click Organize Favorites.

  2. Click Import Favorites in the left hand navigation bar.

  3. Follow the instructions from Import Wizard.

Internet Explorer automatically imports all your Netscape Bookmarks. On the Favorites menu, click the Imported Bookmarks folder to view them.

  1. Open Netscape Communicator.

  2. From the Communicator menu, click Bookmarks, and choose Edit Bookmarks.

  3. From the File menu, choose Import.

  4. Click the down arrow on the Look in drop-down list and choose the location of the bookmark file you wish to import. An example of where your Internet Explorer Favorites would be is C:\\Documents and Settings\\your user name\\Favorites.

  5. Select the bookmark file you wish to import in the Import bookmarks file list.

  6. Click the Open button.

  7. Close the Bookmarks window.


Step 3: Cancel your old Internet service

Cancel your old Internet service to ensure that you are no longer charged for it.
Before canceling your old service, remember that you must leave your old email account active for Return Path's email forwarding to work.

To help notify your friends and family of your new email address, you can use Return Path's "Notify Friends" feature to send a personalized message.
