Slow Internet connection
If your Verizon FiOS performance seems unusually slow, step through the following checklist to diagnose and correct the problem:
Optimize your FiOS speed. The Speed Optimizer tool can help you determine if settings (TCP/IP and MTU) on your computer are tuned for optimal performance.
Find and remove viruses. Viruses can slow your computer's performance, especially if they've deleted or corrupted critical files.
Find and remove spyware. Spyware can run silently in the background whenever your computer is operating, draining memory and processing resources and significantly slowing your system's performance.
Free up space on your hard drive. The amount of free space on your hard drive can also affect your computer's performance. A regular routine of maintenance procedures can help keep your computer running efficiently.
FiOS TV Video-on-Demand (“VOD”) usage. Your FiOS Internet service and FiOS TV VOD service share capacity on the fiber optic connection to your home. The capacity available for your FiOS Internet access service may be reduced if you are watching multiple FiOS TV VOD titles simultaneously.
