The Verizon Home Monitoring and Control network uses a wireless communications technology known as “Z-Wave”. It is designed specifically for remote control applications used in home automation. Z-Wave devices can be monitored and controlled outside your home through a Gateway Device, which combines Z-wave with broadband Internet access.

After you order your kit and receive your devices, you'll use the Setup Wizard to activate ( "pair") and install your devices.
"Pairing" allows your devices to communicate wirelessly with the Gateway Device, which allows you to manage your home remotely from your computer, compatible smartphone and FiOS TV.
