How Distinctive Ring Works This product is no longer available to new customers in CT, DC, DE, MA, NJ, NY, PA, RI, VA. Customers who currently subscribe to the product and remove it will not be able to re-order.

Distinctive Ring is always on; you do not have to activate or deactivate it.
Ring patterns When your phone rings you will hear the following ring patterns:
  • Main number. One normal ring within 6 seconds; 2 seconds on, 4 seconds off.


  • First number. Two short rings within 6 seconds.


  • Second number (if available in your area). Three rings within 6 seconds; short-long-short.


Your callers will hear a normal ring.
Additional information
  • Even though you may have up to three numbers, you can only make one outgoing call at a time.


  • If you have Call Waiting, a special tone that matches each ring pattern will let you know which number the caller is trying to reach.


  • If you have Call Forwarding, you can forward calls to all of your numbers or only to your main number. Contact Verizon for details.
