Anthony (Tony) A. Lewis

Anthony A. Lewis is president of Verizon Washington, DC, a position he has held since March 1, 2004. Tony has oversight for all of Verizon's operations, including regulatory and financial matters in the nation's capital Previously he held the title of executive director, business planning His responsibilities included the coordination and linkage of strategic policy and initiatives affecting Verizon's business units and its regulatory organization.
Tony joined The Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company of Virginia, now Verizon Virginia in 1986 as a group manager in the operator services department. He has held a succession of positions with increasing responsibilities in product line management, traffic engineering and planning, sales, regulatory and public policy.
Tony is on the Board of Trustees of Elizabeth City State University, a member of the DC Chamber of Commerce's Governing Board and on the Board of Associates of Gallaudet University. Tony is also a member of the board of directors of the Greater Washington Board of Trade, the Workforce Investment Council, DC CAPS, the Washington Performing Arts Society, the Federal City Council, the Cultural Alliance of Greater Washington, the United Way National Capital Area, and a member of the National Eagle Leadership Institute.  He has conducted several spring musical productions for the South Lakes High School Drama Department and was a percussionist with the Heritage Fellowship United Church of Christ Gospel Choir. Tony is past president and current member of the Developmental Roundtable for Upward Mobility (DRUM) and a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity.
Tony graduated from Elizabeth City State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in business in 1986, the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business Leadership Development Program in 1996, the John Hopkins Leadership Development Program in 1996, and the Johns Hopkins University with a MBA in 2000.
