William R. Allan
President

William Allan has been the president of Verizon Delaware since 2005.  He is responsible for shaping and advancing public policy strategies for its wireline, wireless, and enterprise business segments in the First State. He also directs Verizon's philanthropic activities toward the critical needs of the communities in the state, notably enhancing literacy and education through Thinkfinity.org, domestic violence prevention, tackling health care accessibility issues and keeping Internet users safe online.

Verizon Delaware includes approximately 1,000 employees providing the highest quality customer service for hundreds of thousands of customers ranging from the individual consumer purchasing wireline, cable and wireless service to the largest enterprise customer purchasing data and IP solutions.

As Verizon's senior leader in Delaware, Bill is a member of the Delaware Business Roundtable, is the Vice Chair of the  Delaware State Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, and is the Board Chair of the Metropolitan Wilmington Urban League.  He is also a member of the Governor’s P-20 Council focusing on education transitions for Delaware students from early childhood education through graduate school.
Bill has an extensive background in the telecommunications industry as an engineer, technical planner and in government affairs.  Prior to coming to Delaware, he was vice president for Regulatory Affairs for Verizon New York.

Bill began his telecommunications career with the New York Telephone Company in 1978 and has held a variety of management positions throughout his over 30-year career.

Bill was raised in New York and holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering from Manhattan College and a Masters in Business Administration from New York University.
