| Verizon Wireless Honors Broward County Sheriff's Work Against Domestic Violence |

Verizon Wireless presented Broward County Sheriff Al Lamberti with the HopeLine® Law Enforcement Partnership Award. The County's top officer was honored on June 23rd at the National Sheriffs' Association's annual conference in Ft. Lauderdale. Verizon Wireless also donated $2,500 to Women in Distress, the leading domestic violence services agency in Broward County, in recognition Sherriff Lamberti's efforts. For many years now, Sherriff Lamberti has aggressively pursued and prosecuted offenders in his community and instituted progressive policies in his own force to protect employees. |

| On October 1, 2008 Verizon Wireless Florida President Pam Tope presented Florida Governor Charlie Crist with a Verizon Wireless HopeLine Hero award as he officially announced October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Since taking office, Governor Crist has budgeted nearly one million dollars each year for domestic violence prevention and education. |
| As the Governor was accepting his award, Verizon Wireless also unveiled their SEE RED campaign in downtown Tampa's Joe Chillura Courthouse Square. SEE RED focuses on ending domestic violence by reaching the batterer and those who know a batterer. |
Passers-by of the SEE RED campaign display were drawn to four red mannequins, each representing an experience with domestic violence. Verizon Wireless is a recognized corporate leader for its commitment to preventing domestic violence and raising awareness of the issue. | University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee Internet Safety Workshops |

| The University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee is hosting a series of free Internet safety workshops designed specifically for computer users aged 50 and older. |
The sessions are being held at various locations in Bradenton and Sarasota in April and May. The workshops, funded through a $25,000 grant from the Verizon Foundation, educate people about potential online risks such as credit card and computer fraud, banking transactions and identity theft.
