Giving Back in Massachusetts
 

In 2007, some 190 nonprofit groups in Massachusetts received nearly $2.1 million from the Verizon Foundation, enabling the organizations to improve literacy skills, create new and diverse approaches to technology-based education, and help domestic violence victims rebuild their lives.

Additionally, hundreds more nonprofit received an additional $1 million dollars from Verizon employees whose efforts were matched through the company's Volunteer and Matching Incentive programs.  Verizon volunteers also donated more than 36,000 hours of personal time to community programs.

Our vision for education and technology in the 21st Century.

The Massachusetts Department of Education and Lesley University received a grant to train teachers to use its new online, curriculum resource tool, Thinkfinity.org.

Thinkfinity.org is the cornerstone of Verizon Foundation's Literacy, Education and Technology initiatives. Our goal is to improve student achievement in traditional classroom settings and beyond by providing high-quality content and extensive professional development training. This free, comprehensive digital learning platform is built upon the merger of two acclaimed programs Verizon MarcoPolo and the Thinkfinity Literacy Network.


Internet Safety

The Molly Bish Center for the Protection of Children and the Elderly was awarded a grant to support an Internet Crimes Against Children Intervention and Prevention Training Project.


English as a Second Language

The following organizations received technology grants to improve their ESL programs.
