Verizon is bringing to your neighborhood* one of the most significant advancements in telecommunications technology in the past 100 years. The technology is called fiber to the premises or FTTP, and construction will start on this network very soon. Your community will be among the first to receive this advanced fiber network.
The network upgrades we are doing in your community represent Verizon’s transformation from a traditional telephone services provider to a company that delivers a full range of next-generation wireline and wireless broadband offerings. We have embarked upon this project because our customers’ demand for high technology services to the home and small business continues to grow.
With our fiber to the premises network, we will offer you a new service called Verizon FiOS. With FiOS, you can enjoy faster multiplayer gaming, video chats, digital movie downloads and other services at unprecedented internet speeds. This new network also has enough capacity to offer video services.
Please be assured that as we transform our network in your neighborhood, we will remain focused on customer care. We will work hard to minimize any inconveniences to you and your neighbors. Here is what you can expect to see:
-
In some cases, we will install fiber-optic cable underground. This often will involve working in public utility easements or telephone franchise easements next to or on private property. Such easements exist to allow utility companies to install, maintain or upgrade facilities. As with any work we do, we will follow local permitting requirements.
-
Before any boring or digging, our construction crews are required to follow rigorous procedures to avoid existing underground utilities.
-
Before the work starts, you may notice colored markings on the grass. These tell us where underground utilities are buried. These markings will fade in time.
-
We ask you to mark auxiliary services you have installed on your property such as invisible pet fences, underground sprinkler systems, and private water or sewer lines with temporary flags or paint so that Verizon contractors know the location of those systems.
-
We will continue to demand that all Verizon employees and contractors working on our behalf respect your concerns, property, and time.
-
We will restore your affected property to its original pre-construction condition.
Door hangers will be placed on each residence to remind you when construction activity is about to begin and to provide you with the contractor’s name and telephone number for inquiries about the project.
Thank your for your patience as we build our new network. The best of technology is yet to come to your community.
If you have questions about our construction and installation, please call our construction contractor listed on the door hanger.
Sincerely,
Verizon Communications
