Vice President - Government Affairs and Chief Lobbyist

Paul G. Wood is Vice President of Government Affairs and the Chief Lobbyist for Verizon Maryland.  He is the primary point of contact for the Maryland General Assembly, the Governor's Office and all state agencies.  Paul also supervises Verizon's representatives with local and county government in Maryland.

Paul attended West Virginia University where he received a BS degree in Journalism.  He completed graduate-level courses at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business and the University of Virginia's Darden Graduate School of Business Administration.  He is also a graduate of Leadership Maryland.

Paul began his career with C&P of West Virginia in 1978.  In 1983, he transferred to Washington, D.C. and later Arlington, Virginia  where he directed Bell Atlantic's region wide activities in media relations, advertising, and employee communications.  In 1991, he was appointed Director - Public Affairs in Maryland. 

Paul's community involvement is extensive.  He is the former president and chair of the Independent College Fund of Maryland, past president of the Signal 13 Foundation supporting Baltimore City Police, and immediate past president of Leadership Anne Arundel.  In addition, he was appointed to the Baltimore Workforce Investment Board by Mayor O'Malley.  He also serves on the board of Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts, and is the company's appointed representative with the Living Classrooms Foundation and the Maryland Business Roundtable for Education.
