Video Choice and Competition in East Multnomah County

Hundreds of customers throughout Multnomah County have asked Verizon when they can expect to see FiOS TV in their neighborhood.  Demand for FiOS TV - which carries hundreds of digital channels with amazing sound and picture clarity - is strong and growing in the east Metro area.  Consumers know the service is authorized in 19 other Oregon communities, and the vast majority want the same benefits as their friends who have FiOS TV in Washington and Yamhill Counties.

To verify this level of pent-up demand in our east Metro communities, Verizon asked McLaughlin & Associates, an independent, nationally respected political polling firm, to survey residents of East Multnomah County.

Next Steps:

More than 100 Verizon advocates attended a public hearing of the Mt. Hood Cable Regulatory Commission on September 15. And scores of you signed our online petition in favor of cable choice and competition.

At its Oct. 2 meeting, the commission adopted a recommendation that Verizon work directly with the communities to complete the remaining terms of the franchise.  That work is underway and we hope to have final franchise agreements before City Councils as soon as possible.
