Fiber to the Premises (FTTP) and FiOS

Verizon's communications revolution in Oregon officially began in July 2005 when customers in the Somerset area of northeastern Washington County became the first in the entire Pacific Northwest to receive our lightning-fast Verizon FiOS voice and data services.

Verizon is the first company in the telecom industry to begin using fiber on a widespread basis to connect homes and businesses directly to the network. The technology has made available a wide array of new products, ranging from broadband connections that offer data transmission speeds far greater than anything available today to a variety of video applications, most notably Verizon FiOS TV.
