Building Pennsylvania's Broadband Future... Today!

William B. PetersenWilliam B. Petersen
President - Verizon Pennsylvania

Welcome to the Verizon - Pennsylvania website, a great resource for news and information on how we serve you - our friends, neighbors and partners in business across the Keystone State. Here, you'll find some good data on our community service and philanthropic work in the region, and you'll learn about how we are transforming our business with new services and state-of-the-art technologies.

At Verizon, we've been watching our industry change dramatically these past few years.  Speed, mobility and control have become part of our customers' DNA, and we have been running as fast as we can to transform our products and services to meet those demands. Since the year 2000, we have invested some $75 B in capital -- more than any other telecom or cable company in America. We've used many billions of that to build the best wireless network in the country and to deploy DSL in our wireline network. And we've cranked up our innovation engine to introduce the next-generation products and services that the digital customer demands.

Now, the broadband customer's demand for convergence is driving change in our networks once again. Verizon is the first communications company to make a major commitment to taking fiber optic networks all the way to homes and businesses. This new technology, which we call "FiOS" delivers super-fast Internet access, true broadband capacity for video, all kinds of interactive capabilities, and almost unlimited capacity for future growth. The deployment of our FiOS network is the beginning of a communications revolution that will improve the way we all live, work and play in Pennsylvania. When this network is completed, you'll have access to broadband Internet services that are faster than anything we've seen in the region so far. And you'll have a new choice for your cable TV service, FiOS TV.

The process of delivering this brand new network hasn't been easy, but it is worth it. We acknowledge the disruptions that our construction cause and we apologize for them. But we're committed to keeping local disruptions to a minimum, and will work with local government to make sure that happens. At the end of the day, it's not just about stringing and burying fiber. This is about creating a new platform for growth, for us and our customers.

On behalf of all of us at Verizon Pennsylvania, thanks for visiting our site!
