City Business Journal Network

  • Verizon moves up a notch to “top brand” in its category in the 2006 “American Brand Excellence Awards” survey. The survey was conducted by the City Business Journal Network among 1,000 small- and medium-sized business owners and managers. Verizon ranked #1 in its peer communications group. Verizon topped all competitors in these categories: offering good value, being an increasingly popular choice, forward-looking, benefiting growing companies, and behaving ethically.

Wired Magazine

  • Verizon is named to Wired magazine’s 2006 “The Wired 40” list. To be included on this list a company must demonstrate: strategic vision, global reach, cutting edge technology, and are trendsetters. Verizon ranked #22 on this list. The lists also include companies such as Google, Genentech, Yahoo, General Electric, Cisco, Medtronic, IBM, and Microsoft.

American Customer Satisfaction Index Survey

  • Verizon Wireless and T-Mobile tied for the top spot among wireless phone companies in the "American Customer Satisfaction Index" (ACSI) survey conducted by the University of Michigan. Both companies scored 69. The industry average was 66. This is Verizon Wireless' third consecutive year at the top.

J.D. Power

  • Verizon Business earns top honors for customer satisfaction for large businesses in J.D. Power’s annual “Survey of Small, Mid-size, and Large Business Customers”. The study measured customer satisfaction with providers of data services such as cable modems, DSL, T1, T3/DS3, Ethernet, and frame relay. The large business customer category measured such customer satisfaction measures as: performance and reliability, billing, cost of service, company image, sales representatives/account executives, offerings and promotions, and customer service. Bell South and Sprint ranked second and third, followed by AT&T/SBC, Time Warner Cable, and Quest.
  • Verizon Wireless received high marks in J.D. Power's "2006 Wireless Customer Care Performance" study. Verizon performs well above the industry average for three point-of contact measures: telephone contact with a service representative or automated response system, walk-in contact at a retail store, and an online contact via Internet connection. Problem resolution and hold-time duration were also measured in point-of service contacts.
  • Verizon Wireless ranked “Highest in Customer Satisfaction with Business Wireless Service” in the second annual J.D. Power and Associates "2006 Business Wireless Satisfaction" study. The study surveyed 2,725 businesses regarding overall customer satisfaction. It looked at factors such as call quality, performance, reliability, and brand image.
  • Verizon Wireless, along with T-Mobile, has the best customer care according to J.C. Power in its “Wireless Customer Care Performance" study. This semi-annual study reflects customer experiences with the five largest wireless companies. Verizon performed well on many measures including: customer services representatives, hold times, and resolving inquiries with one contact.
  • Verizon Wireless is tops among five national wireless providers in J.D. Power’s “Wireless Call Quality Performance Study Volume 2”. Verizon performed well above average in several measures including: call with static drops/disconnects, voice distortion and calls not connected on the first try.
  • Verizon Wireless is tops for wireless call quality in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast Regions according to J.D. Power's "2006 Wireless Call Quality Performance Study". Verizon Wireless tied for first place with T-Mobile in the Northeast Region. Factors measured by the study include: voice mail notification, dropped/disconnected calls, no static/distortion or echoes, and initial connection.

Institutional Investors

  • Verizon ranks number one among telecom companies in the Institutional Investor's list of "America's Most Shareholder-Friendly Companies for 2006". Nearly 950 analysts and portfolio managers were asked to name companies they considered the most shareholder-friendly.

Wireless Week

  • Verizon Wireless was honored as "Carrier of the Year" by Wireless Week for its achievements in technology, customer satisfaction, and overall financial and subscriber performance.

PC Magazine

  • Verizon Wireless Broadband Access EV-DO is the "Cadillac of wireless services, thanks to the company's focus on high-quality coverage in broad metro areas," according to Sascha Segan in PC Magazine.

Service

Strategy Analytics

  • Verizon Wireless ranked highest in Strategy Analytics' latest: Customer Support Satisfaction Index". This index reported that Verizon Wireless had the highest level of satisfaction with every aspect of their contact including customer support.

Frost and Sullivan

  • Verizon Business was recognized as the recipient of Frost and Sullivan's "Customer Service Leadership Award" within the North American managed services market. Verizon Business received the award based on its leading customer-centric service and support, global portfolio of managed network and information technology solutions, Rapid Fault Isolation and Restoration process, and personalized care via its global team of more the 6,500 technicians and network engineers.

The Customer Respect Group

  • Verizon Wireless was recognized by The Customer Respect Group for its industry-leading respect and treatment of the online customer in a survey of leading communications companies. This is the second consecutive year that Verizon Wireless has received this award.

BrandWeek's Customer Loyalty Index

  • Verizon Wireless tops BrandWeek's "2006 Brand Keys Customer Loyalty Index" for the second consecutive year. BrandWeek interviewed over 20,000 customers to determine which of 230 brands in 35 categories command the highest measures of loyalty. In the wireless service category, Verizon Wireless best met or exceeded customer expectations as the "ideal" brand.

Cisco's Awards for "2005 Provider Partner of the Year"

  • Verizon Business has been named as Cisco's "2005 Global Service Provider Partner of the Year". Verizon Business was chosen from a roster of more than 2,000 organizations. Cisco's award recognizes outstanding performance and customer satisfaction.

J. D. Power Customer Care Performance Survey

  • Verizon Wireless received high marks in J.D. Power's "2006 Wireless Customer Care Performance" study. Telemark Survey of Customer Satisfaction

  • Verizon Business European Operations received a number of top awards for customer satisfaction. Telemark, a telecom and IT marketing firm, surveyed customer satisfaction among 100 data network managers. Verizon Business European Operations earned two Gold Awards for outstanding performance in technical support and for notification of network problems, a category in which it was named "Best in Class." The business unit also earned Best in Class - the highest score - in three additional categories, and "excellent" ratings in seven categories, including network reliability.

Diversity and Workplace Excellence

LATINAStyle Magazine

  • Verizon is named, again, to LATINAStyle’s "50 Top Companies to Work For". Verizon is recognized for its efforts to meet the needs of its diverse customer base by reflecting diversity throughout its ranks. Verizon is an active recruiter in the Hispanic Community and offers Latinas in its employee base a number of opportunities for professional and personal growth.

Hispanic Business Magazine

  • Verizon Communications is ranked #7 on Hispanic Business’ 2006 list of “Top Companies for Hispanics”. The magazine’s survey highlights the growing strength of Hispanics in influencing American corporate culture.

Working Mother

  • Verizon Communications has been named to Working Mother Magazine's "2006 Best Companies for Women of Color". Verizon Communications and eleven other companies have been recognized by Working Mother as having cutting edge policies and practices that support African-American, Asian-American, Latina, and Native-American women. Verizon Communications was the only telecommunications company recognized on this list.

Diversity Inc

  • Verizon captures top spot in Diversity Inc's "Top 50 Companies for Diversity". Verizon Communications and Verizon Wireless share the top spot. Over 250 companies participated in the survey. Companies were evaluated using a variety of factors including: human capital (employment by race/ethnicity/gender), corporate communications (diversity training and multicultural marketing), and supplier diversity.

Black MBA Magazine

  • Verizon has been selected as the number one company for black MBA's by Black MBA magazine. Forty-nine other companies were considered for this award but Verizon stood out in four key areas: the quality of diversity programs, senior management's commitment to diversity, support to minority communities, and the percentage of minorities and women within the organization.

Women's Business Enterprise National Council

  • Verizon was one of eighteen companies selected by the Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) to its annual listing of "America's Top Corporations for Women's Business Enterprise". Verizon was honored in a White House ceremony for providing women-owned business with equal opportunities to compete for contracts to supply Verizon with goods and services. In 2005, Verizon spent $2.17 billion with such businesses.

DiversityBusiness.com

  • Verizon Wireless is selected again as one of the nation's "Top 50 Corporate Buyers of Diversity Products and Services" by DiversityBusiness.com. This list is known as the "Div 50".

Black Enterprise Magazine

  • Verizon is named to Black Enterprise magazine’s 2006 “40 Best Companies for Diversity”. To be named to this list, companies must demonstrate significant representation of African-Americans and other minorities in these areas: corporate procurement, corporate board participation, senior management representation, and total work force.
  • Jerri DeVard, senior vice president for brand management and marketing - Retail Markets, is named as one of "50 Most Powerful African Americans in Corporate America" by Black Enterprise magazine.

New Jersey Breastfeeding Task Force

  • Verizon Wireless received the first “Breastfeeding Friendly Award of 2006” from the New Jersey Breastfeeding Task Force. The task force recognized Verizon’s innovative programs that facilitate breastfeeding.

Latin Business Magazine

  • Verizon was named to Latin Business magazine's annual "Corporate Diversity Honor Roll". This list recognizes those U.S. companies doing the most to promote opportunities on behalf of the nation's minority communities, particularly Hispanics.

Business Week Magazine

  • Verizon is named "one of the Best Places to Launch a Career" by Business Week magazine. The company is ranked number eleven on the magazine's list. Feedback was obtained from students, college career counselors, and employers to determine which companies offer the biggest advantages for entry-level employees, such as the highest pay, the most rapid advancement, and the best training programs.

Association for Women in Communications

  • Verizon Telecom's newsletter for "Customers with Disabilities" wins the 2006 Clarion Award for the best external corporate newsletter. The Clarion awards symbolize excellence in clear, concise communications.

Profiles in Diversity Journal

  • Three Verizon executives have been recognized by the Profiles in Diversity Journal as "Women Worth Watching". Honored were Kathy Harless, president - Verizon Information Services, Sheila Lau, region president -- Southwest, and Kitty Linder, president -- LiveSource. The award recognizes these women for achievements and initiatives in leading their organizations and communities.

Leadership

Best Workplace for Commuters

  • Verizon's Basking Ridge facility has been designated as one of the "Best Places for Commuters". The designation is based on company benefits offered to its employees in an effort to reduce traffic congestion and air pollution. Other Verizon facilities, Westchester County, NY, Boston, MA, Newark, NJ, and Everett, WA, have received this designation previously.

US EPA WasteWise Very Large Business Partner of the Year

  • Verizon has been selected by the US EPA as the WasteWise Very Large Business "Partner of the Year". Verizon has received this award for the ninth year in the program's ten-year history. Factors taken in consideration for this award include waste prevention, reduction, recycling, and the purchase of recycled products.

The Hay Group/CEO Magazine

  • Verizon was listed among the "Top 20 Companies for Leaders" in a 2006 study by The Hay Group and CEO magazine. The study considered 1,279 companies with at least $8 billion in annual revenues from around the world.

Training Magazine

  • Verizon Wireless has been recognized, for the fifth consecutive year, by Training magazine’s “Top 100 Training Organizations in America”. Verizon received the “Best Practice” award for its approach to Customer Service Training.

Keynote Service Level Rankings Study

  • The Verizon Wireless Web Site, www.verizonwireless.com, was recognized by Keynote Systems in its "2006 Keynote Service Level Rankings" study for its industry leading reliability and responsiveness.

Computerworld

  • For the fourth consecutive year, Verizon Wireless was recognized as a top workplace for information technology (IT) professionals by Computerworld. The company rose to 18th on the list, which is based in part on employee surveys. Verizon Wireless was the only telecommunications provider in the top 100.

Metro Ethernet Forum

  • Verizon has earned the “U.S. Ethernet Provider of the Year – Best in Business" by the Metro Ethernet Forum. The award is given to the company that demonstrates the foremost standards-setting authority for Ethernet services

Gartner "Magic Quadrant" Report

  • Verizon Business has been named to the leaders quadrant of Gartner's "Magic Quadrant" report for U.S. network service providers. The Magic Quadrant report reflects Gartner's analysis of how vendors perform in certain markets. Earlier this year Gartner named Verizon Business to the Magic Quadrant for North American Help Desk Outsourcing Services.

Source TV's "Spot of the Week"

  • A Verizon Wireless TV ad is named "Spot of the Week" by Source TV. Source TV is an online database of all televised commercials running in the United States. Verizon Wireless advertising campaign, "Our People, Our Network" will run through June 2006. The campaign includes print, radio, TV and online ads featuring employees who help build and maintain the Verizon Wireless network.

IEEE Fellow

  • Verizon Wireless executive vice president and chief technical officer, Dick Lynch, was named a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc.

Moms In Business Network Names Verizon "Company of The Year"

  • Verizon is named "Company of the Year" by Mom's in Business Network. Mom's in Business Network cited Verizon's first-rate service and understanding of the needs of working mothers by providing products and services tailored to assist women entrepreneurs. The annual award also recognized Verizon for its commitment to working mothers and making them feel respected as professionals in the workplace. A committee of business professionals reviewed more than 100 nominees, noting that Verizon was one of the rare nominations submitted by a customer. The organization also singled out Verizon for its outstanding benefits that serve the needs of female employees.

Alliance for Workplace Excellence

  • Verizon Wireless was presented a "Workplace Excellence Seal of Approval" for the fourth consecutive year from the Alliance for Workplace Excellence, a national non-profit group dedicated to building and recognizing outstanding workplaces.

Frost & Sullivan Award for Competitive Strategy Leadership

  • Verizon Partner Solutions is the recipient of the "2006 Frost & Sullivan Award for Competitive Strategy Leadership". The award recognizes the ability to grow revenues, achieve a successful merging of the wholesale entities of Verizon and the former MCI, and lead market share in the metro segment of the North American wholesale SONET services markets.

Light Reading's "Movers and Shakers in Telecom"

  • Verizon's Mark Wegleitner, senior technology officer, has been named one of the "Top Ten Movers and Shakers in Telecom" by Light Reading, an online technology web site.

Forrester Research

  • Verizon is recognized by Forrester, an independent research firm, as the leader among consumer ISP's (Internet Service Providers). Forrester evaluated strengths and weaknesses of top consumer ISP's. Verizon received top scores for cost of service, its portal, and email storage.

Training Magazine

  • Verizon Wireless and Verizon Communications are among the best companies in providing training for employees, according to Training magazine. Both made the magazine's "Training Top 100" list of organizations that excel at employee development. Many factors were included in selecting the best companies: company financial commitment to training and programs offered and business metrics tracked and tied to training such as employee retention and customer service.

Yellow Pages Market Reporter Survey

  • Verizon Information Services is ranked number one in usage share according to a survey of residents in New York and Washington D.C. markets by the Yellow Pages Market Reporter.

Building Owners and Management Association

  • Verizon receives the "Pinnacle Award" for the restoration of its corporate headquarters, 140 West Street in lower Manhattan, by the Building Owners and Management Association. The building was heavily damaged as a result of the 9/11 attacks on the Twin Towers.
