USA Luge Team Wants to Recruit You!
The Verizon USA Luge Slider Search is looking for future National and Olympic champions! Together with USA Luge, Verizon helped establish the official nationwide recruitment drive to help identify, train and qualify contestants for the USA Luge Junior Development Team. Young athletes, ages 11-14, have the opportunity to become members of the Senior National and Olympic Luge Teams by progressing through a six-rung development ladder.
Since 1985, this event has introduced the exhilarating sport of luge to more than 16,000 adolescents. At each stop, participants learn luge basics from U.S. Olympic and National team athletes and coaches. Future "sliders" demonstrate their athleticism and skills on paved luge courses using wheel-equipped sleds. Those showing promise will be selected to experience the thrill of icy luge tracks firsthand at Lake Placid, NY, Park City, UT, or Marquette, MI. Top athletes from this group go on to become members of next year's development team. In fact, most U.S. Junior National Team athletes are recruited during the Verizon USA Luge Slider Search!
With the 2007 tour approaching, USA Luge athletes and coaches are anxious to meet future champion sliders. Check out the Slider Search to experience the speed, excitement, skill and competitiveness of the luge!
