As an example of current outsourcing engagements, dedicated onsite Verizon FNS personnel provide 7x24x365 monitoring of systems and networks to ensure timely incident detection and response. Incident response and reporting is customized to meet individual requirements, ensuring security policy compliance. Verizon FNS¿ proven expertise has helped to improve network uptime and performance and tighten network security controls. A redesign of a wide area network gateway to implement redundant networking and security devices with load-balancing equipment improved network performance and provided high network availability. We implemented state of the art firewalls to replace packet filtering devices and integrated the Verizon FNS NetFacade® Intrusion Detection Service. As a result, security incidents have been negligible while protection, detection and incident response capabilities have greatly increased.
