Verizon FNS understands the challenges being faced by all organizations within the federal government in meeting the requirements for planning, documenting and testing all aspects of Continuity of Government. As a corporation, Verizon's approach to Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery is the most thorough in the industry and meets or exceeds the guidelines established by the federal government. We are involved in all aspects of government contingency planning, including testing, operations and maintenance and we conduct a variety of National Level exercises. Because the federal government classified Verizon's network as critical infrastructure, specific steps, policies and procedures are in place to fulfill operational readiness and backup preparedness for operational sustainment in an emergency.
Verizon's expertise in Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery planning and implementation was clearly demonstrated following the terrorist attacks of 9-11. Although one of our major switching centers in New York was severely damaged, we maintained operations as a result of effective advanced planning and flawless execution of the plans, and the public network continued to process calls. In support of the Pentagon following the terrorist attacks, Verizon FNS personnel made the Pentagon's Alternate Work Site operational in approximately one hour with on-site staffing to monitor and manage critical communications services. Verizon FNS offers a wide range of integration and professional services to support the planning and testing activities associated with COG. No matter where you are in the process, only beginning or need to make updates based on changes in the infrastructure or the organization, we can support you with knowledgeable and experienced COG specialists, focused on the pieces that are most important to your organization.
