Regional Calling Plans Regional calls are those made outside your local and extended area, but within official Local Access and Transport Areas (LATA) boundaries.
In an effort to provide you with the best value and reduce your monthly phone bill, Verizon offers calling plan options for regional calls. With some of these plans, calls that would have required dialing 1+ number become local calls.
Long Distance Calling Plans Long Distance calls are those made outside regional boundaries (LATAs). These calls require you to dial 1+ area code + number, they include out-of-state calls, and sometimes calls within your state (depending on where your business is located). International long distance calls require you to dial 011+ country and city code + number.
