Inbound Call Operator Screening (ICOS)
Outbound Call Operator Screening (OCOS)
Verizon's Outbound Call Operator Screening (OCOS) option is designed to help prevent unauthorized charges on outgoing calls, just as Inbound Call Operator Screening does for incoming calls.
Here's how the service works:
OCOS provides screening for calls that:
Originate from your PSP telephone /equipment and
Require processing by an electronic or live operator.
For each of your lines, you can:
Prohibit all operator-assisted "sent-paid" calls, making it unlikely that an operator will help any customer make a call for which you cannot collect, or
Allow only collect calls (an option normally used in, for example, prisons).
Once the screening service you request is established on a line, it screens every outgoing call.
Verizon offers OCOS wherever the technology of our central offices allows.
Depending on your state, OCOS may be tariffed as:
A stand-alone service,
An integral element of the access line or
A component of a "bundled" screening and blocking option.
States refer to this service by different names. It is also called:
Optional call screening,
Optional operator screening,
Outgoing screening or
Screened one-party service.
If your operator service provider cannot access an accurate, up-to-date database, you might still find inappropriate calls on your bill. Verizon is not liable for these charges, but if you are an OCOS subscriber, we will attempt to assist in resolving your problem and provide you the proper contact to obtain credit.
If you want OCOS, check the appropriate blank on the PSP Service Application, and we'll advise you of the locally applicable rate.
If the PSP refuses Outbound Call Operator Screening, Verizon's network is not responsible for charges on your bill and no credit adjustments will be made.
