What's the difference between FiOS and Standard services?
From the blazing speed and crystal clarity of the 100% fiber optic FiOS® network to the proven reliability of our standard services, Verizon provides TV, Internet and phone products that will exceed your expectations today—and continue to delight you down the road.
FiOS
FiOS is Verizon’s newest service. Verizon FiOS TV, FiOS Internet and FiOS Digital Phone services run on a sophisticated network of 100% fiber-optic designed to enhance speed and clarity so you can enjoy the fastest Internet in the U.S. and TV with the best HD picture quality.
Standard
Standard Verizon Internet and Standard Phone services run on a copper wire network and utilize dependable DSL Internet technology offering top-rated reliability at an affordable price offering. For TV, we've partnered with DIRECTV®, to bring you the highest-quality satellite TV with an impressive lineup of HD channels.
Because not all Verizon services are offered in all areas, you’ll want to check availability before making any decisions. Here’s the good news: No matter what type of TV, Internet or phone plan you choose, one thing will stay the same. You can trust Verizon to consistently deliver the speed, quality and network reliability you need to stay connected to your world.

Great picture and dependable service
HappyWithFiOS. FL
After watching workers lay fiber optic through our neighborhood, I contacted Verizon and changed my DSL Internet to FiOS. At that time my television was provided by a satellite company and I had a contract so without benefit of bundling services I was paying a lot of money each month. I was happy with satellite though it was pricey and in those instances when a severe storm came through, our service was lost. Finally the agreement ended and in response to an ad mailed to me from Verizon, I made the transition to FiOS television and bundled my services. The bundled cost saved me a lot of money each month and my original 20/5 Internet connection increased to 36/36.
I am very impressed with the service. I have telephone, television and Internet. The picture is as good as or exceeds satellite (which far exceeded cable that I had before satellite). Friends who have cable tell me they experience a lot of problems, but FiOS has, so far, been flawless. The multi-room DVR makes viewing in any room a breeze; there are good On Demand HD selections, both paid and free to choose from. The high definition image is excellent and appears to be largely uncompressed compared to cable. There's no loss of image in storms and the high speed Internet is dependably fast compared to cable. I highly recommend FiOS!

The difference is simple: FiOS is never "out"!
Silver Spring, MD
When Comcast was the only available Internet provider in my neighborhood, we would periodically have outages -- sometimes all day! No Comcast, giving me back my $1.33 for the day of non-service (after my insistence on a refund) doesn't make it okay! FiOS is also noticeably faster than Comcast DSL, though for the type of things I do on the Internet, I can't call it life-changing. The bottom line is that in these days and times when the Internet is an extremely important business and life-management tool, why would you subject yourself to spotty service?

I LOVE FiOS
afmom828, NJ
We had Comcast since 1985. Comcast got so bad at customer service. We weren't sure how good FiOS would be but we were amazed. I love the on demand and different things about FiOS. Not only is the picture better but the TV does not get square blocks on it. I have had FiOS for over two years now and have no issues. The only thing it the phone call takes forever.

Everything about FiOS was great
CDZ1
I had FiOS while I lived in VA. The installation was great and the technician was very friendly. Never had any major issues, and any small issues were always resolved quickly. The HD quality is amazing, and there is such a large number of HD channels. Unfortunately, I recently had to move to PA. FiOS is not currently available in our area (Please Verizon, fix this!), so we had to go with Comcast. In the first week of our service, we placed over 10 calls for what I believe are big issues with service. Took multiple calls to fix every issue. The quality compared to FiOS for HD is sub-par. Not only that, but on the movie channels for Comcast, there is only ONE HD channel for each premium channel. FiOS had HD channels for EVERY channel within the premiums. I can't express how in EVERY way, FiOS outperforms the competition. As soon as it is available in my area, I will be switching immediately. I always try to tell everyone I know how great FiOS is. If it is available where you live, you should get it. Not to mention the Internet speed was 3 times as fast than my current Comcast Internet. I think it is also worth mentioning how great the menu looks. So much cleaner and more information is presented than with Comcast.

FiOS blows away everything out there!

I had them all, Direct TV and Cablevision (Long Island, NY). Once FiOS came to my town I switched and was blown away with the picture on my 60" TV! I've been a FiOS customer for about 3 years and I am hooked and will never leave. I guess they now have a life long customer. Way to go Verizon!

Best ever installation!
BlueKetch, MA
When my wife and I moved to an area where we could get FiOS, we signed up immediately for the phone, TV and Internet bundle. We had just purchased the house and cleared the basement area where we wanted the devices installed.
The technician arrived at the scheduled time and immediately set to work. A few hours later everything was installed, tested and working perfectly. It has functioned with only one short interruption that I can recall for over two and one-half years. I still show off the quality of the installation work to visitors who care about such things. I believe that quality contributes greatly to its stability.
I've had lots of cable, Internet and phone providers over the years. FiOS is, by far, the best and most reliable service I've used. It certainly had the most professional installer I have ever met.

We all love it and yes, even our dogs too

We are so happy we switched to FiOS. Not only is our bill lower than Comcast but our HD reception is outstanding and so much more then our old cable company. I'm just glad we have FiOS. I don't know what took us so long to change -- and for the better. It's so much easier to use. I can go on and on but I'm sure you heard it all, so I'll just say thank you.

BETTER late then never
slotmach, Newark, DE
For several years I just keep switching through the channels on the OTHER service I had and one day I said enough of this and I got the FiOS package. I said thank God, better late then never.
I used to be a despondent Comcast user, trying to get by as best I could. I switched in a heartbeat when FiOS was offered in our locale and am glad I did. Fabulous picture quality and channel selection with HD, and unlike Comcast it never goes "down." The DVR is extremely intuitive to program, has great capacity, and I love its multi-set capability. FiOS also has very useful on-screen search capability, though its online guide is so easy to use I seldom need to resort to it. With all I am now saving on anti-depressants, I might buy a bigger set!

When my boyfriend and I moved into our new home, we were super excited that Verizon FiOS was available. We loved our service, but 1.5 years after we moved in, "cable" came knocking with a seemingly incredible "customer win back" deal. I called Verizon twice to see if they could match the terms that "cable" had quoted us but unfortunately they couldn't. Being in law school, a $60 a month savings is a lot so we decided to give "cable" a try, especially since there wasn't a contract. Boy was that a mistake. Within 4 days of returning from our trip I was canceling "cable" and scheduling Verizon to come back out to hook our FiOS back up!
Verizon FiOS customer service has always been professional and courteous even when I'm upset AND the rep was able to get us a deal just about as good as the one I thought I was getting with "cable". We were so relieved once we got our FiOS back, we will NEVER be leaving again! We also recently upgraded our Verizon Wireless cell phones to a Droid X and iPhone. Now we are able to take advantage of some really awesome FiOS features like using our cell phones as remotes and the remote DVR, and watching movies we rent through our phones. There are so many extras with FiOS it is definitely worth it and in my opinion, when I know I can call customer service and be greeted with the respect a loyal customer deserves, it makes the service all the more worthwhile.

When I've had issues with my Internet I've never had any trouble with getting hold of someone and then when I speak to Tech support the person was always very knowledgeable!
FiOS installation
johnf2, Bucks County, PA
Very pleased with my FiOS install. Two techs arrived promptly on time. They had to first string the fiber optics cable from about two telephone poles down. They asked me were I wanted the access box installed, did the install, checked my internal cable wiring, and ended up replacing and installing 2 new runs. They installed the router and set up the Internet. They set up the both DVR's and waited until they authenticated and walked me through the menus on the boxes. It took about 3 hours, but their professionalism and care was great. It was worth the 3 hours. FiOS is a best service to ever come to my town!

Once you go FiOS, you never go back
sangs, Montclair, NJ
There's so much hype involved in marketing, you can never be sure if a product will match the promise. That's what I thought when FiOS first emerged on the scene a few years ago. So instead of buying into the hype, I kept trudging along with DirecTV and dealing with the signal dropouts, the compression artifacts, the sluggish DVRs, the ugly dish on the roof and feeding the messy web of wires into my home. Then finally, after yet another ruined recording caused by signal dropout, I was ready to see if FiOS was all it claimed to be.
Guess what? It is. In the nearly 10 months I've had FiOS, not a single signal loss has occurred. My HD programming actually looks like HD programming instead of a wave of blurriness and macro blocking when the picture speeds up. A DVR that doesn't miss recordings and holds up to 60-plus hours of HD programming. No longer do I need to schedule a recording on multiple DVRs for fear an episode won't record, which was a regular occurrence with DirecTV. And I'm not even getting into the increased performance of my Internet connection since ditching Comcast "High Speed" Internet. FiOS saves me money, gives me a superior product and has changed the way we watch TV. A great investment.

FiOS picture quality blows away the competition!
johnf2, Bucks County, PA
I came to FiOS about three years ago after having many problems with Comcast, both picture quality and service. I was the first in my neighborhood to have FiOS installed. When it was first fired up, the HD picture quality was just fabulous compared to what I had and today it is even better. After seeing FiOS's picture quality, many of my neighbors switched too. When I see the other competitors feeds it does not even come close to mine, including Comcast and satellite. Seeing is believing. If you want the best HD around, FiOS with its fiber optic cconnection to the house beats the other providers by miles. Go over to a neighbor that has FiOS and see what I mean!

Picture quality and innovation

When I bought my new home I was torn between FiOS and cable. I had cable all my life and figured I'd give FiOS a try. From the minute I turned on my TV, the picture was amazing. After getting over the initial shock of the great picture and the amount of HD channels I noticed the innovation Verizon offered. The TV guide was more advanced than cable and the Internet was blazing fast. FiOS is truly is a cutting edge service and they listen to their customers. In fact, the customers' suggestions drive their new features. When something's not right their customer service will work to make it right.

My FiOS television

My FiOS TV experience has been excellent. I am particularly pleased with the large numbers of both HD and standard digital channels. I am very happy to be able to receive pentagon, military and military history channels in addition to the other history and science channels. The ability to use a single DVR from any TV is a plus and the picture quality is excellent. I was a cable customer previously and feel that the value of FiOS is infinitely greater. The VoD search function is also excellent.

We live in lower Bucks County, PA and the only provider here for very long was Comcast. Others had tried repeatedly to gain access to the area but something always happened and they never arrived. On or about 2008 Verizon had said they were putting in a network and it would be available by the end of the year. A few neighbors had signed up for FiOS but they were only using it for computers. Last year Comcast started added more fees and breaking down their all-in-one packages to the point where their prices almost doubled. That's when we decided to try FiOS. Now we ask ourselves why did we wait and more importantly, why were we paying so much? Verizon's bundled FiOS system is outstanding, plus we now have live feeds on channels Comcast could only do through On Demand. In Verizon's middle plan we actually gained 32 channels that we had never seen before, and at a price that is very affordable. Why wouldn't anyone sign up for FiOS? We just love it!

The DVR is fabulous
Hamlet, Greenbelt, MD
I love how I can just set the DVR to record all 12 of the series I watch. I no longer have to set up my separate DVR every night, check that the disk has enough room, and check which shows are repeats. The only big defect is that the display on Verizon's DVR just says PLAY when it is playing, rather than saying the elapsed time in the show the way my separate DVRs always have. That is extremely annoying. If I want to see the elapsed time, I have to click Info, and then I get a display that blocks a large part of the screen (it wouldn't be so bad if it were tiny). Other than that, the Verizon DVR is fabulous.

FiOS is awesome!

I was stuck with cable for many years until FiOS became available in my area. FiOS Is so much better than cable. I wish I could mention the name of the company that I was with, because compared to the deals and quality of service (customer service included) that you get with FiOS, that cable company should be arrested and thrown in jail. My TV picture is the clearest it's ever been; my phone and Internet are superior; and with all the extras you get with FiOS at a reasonable price, you would be insane not to switch over. I will never go back to cable again! I am referring all my friends to FiOS once it's available in their areas. Thank you FiOS!

It's the speed!
toddtee1, CA
The 25 Mbps speed of my Internet connection is the page 1 headline. It makes downloads a breeze. Most utility software downloads take but a few seconds.
Page 2 is the DVR experience, though I have no idea how the DVRs of Dish, DirectTV, Time Warner and others compare. I just know that you'd have to pry my DVR out of my cold, dead hand to get it away. Whether it's pausing or replaying live TV, recording shows for later (commercial-free), viewing or being able to enjoy two shows that share a time slot, it's great!
