What's the difference between FiOS and Standard services?
From the blazing speed and crystal clarity of the 100% fiber optic FiOS® network to the proven reliability of our standard services, Verizon provides TV, Internet and phone products that will exceed your expectations today—and continue to delight you down the road.
FiOS
FiOS is Verizon’s newest service. Verizon FiOS TV, FiOS Internet and FiOS Digital Phone services run on a sophisticated network of 100% fiber-optic designed to enhance speed and clarity so you can enjoy the fastest Internet in the U.S. and TV with the best HD picture quality.
Standard
Standard Verizon Internet and Standard Phone services run on a copper wire network and utilize dependable DSL Internet technology offering top-rated reliability at an affordable price offering. For TV, we've partnered with DIRECTV®, to bring you the highest-quality satellite TV with an impressive lineup of HD channels.
Because not all Verizon services are offered in all areas, you’ll want to check availability before making any decisions. Here’s the good news: No matter what type of TV, Internet or phone plan you choose, one thing will stay the same. You can trust Verizon to consistently deliver the speed, quality and network reliability you need to stay connected to your world.
See what everyone's up to at home with videos accessible from your smartphone. You can even get alerts when a window or door has been opened. It's simple and affordable.
Let People In
Sometimes people need to get into your home when you're not there-contractors, babysitters, the kids. Simply lock and unlock doors remotely with passcode activated locks-so you always have control of who has access to your home.
Program Your Appliances
Making your home energy smart is a piece of cake. Program your thermostat, lights and other small appliances to turn on and off at certain times. Left a light on? Switch it off from just about anywhere. Your utility bill will thank you.

Do It
YOURSELF
Getting your home hooked up is no sweat.
You don't have to be an engineer to set up the Home Monitoring & Control Starter Kit. Our easy how-to videos and instructions take you through the process step by step so you'll be ready to go in 30 minutes or less! It's just one less thing you have to worry about.
I started out with just the small kit (indoor camera & light switch). It took about 10 minutes to install-following the directions that came with it. The camera can be used wirelessly and placed anywhere you'd like. I want to upgrade already. The possibilities are endless!
With so many different options, this has been a fun service to use. You can set up events based upon detecting motion with a camera or time when you want lights turned on and off. You can set the temperature of your house remotely-if you forget to set it back when you've gone on vacation. You can also monitor your energy usage and see things like what time of day you yse the most energy. I installesd most items myself-except the thermostat and the energy reader. Those should probably be done by a professional.
