Life Cycle engineers to support customer funded positions with HHS-CMS. Responsibilities range from network monitoring and reporting to analysis and design.Design and implement customer networks (WAN, LAN, data centre, IPT, etc.). Manage the deliverables on complex customer design and implementation projects. Pro-actively drive the development of the engineering solutions and internal engineering organizations and third party vendors as directed by the customer. Definition and documentation of operating policies and procedures for complex services. Directs the customer's technical staff on installation and implementation of infrastructure.
Leads engagements with the customer to develop reports that are relevant to monitoring and managing enterprise networks and associated applications to meet specific business and service objectives for CMS. Provide ad-hoc requests for reports not available online. Monitors, tracks, and reports network performance in accordance with contract and customer specific key performance indicator (KPI) metrics.
Conduct network analysis and capacity management assessment for proactive monitoring of network performance, health, and trends on the enterprise network and address areas that need improvement. Develop and drive network optimization plans to ensure network integrity supports the installation of new services and features.
Executes designed changes to the network in accordance with approved engineering documentation and risk management processes.
Leads collaborative discussions with the customer on regular configuration reviews & approvals.
High level of technical knowledge/ experience with routing / switching networks. Demonstrated ability to have completed multiple, complex technical projects. Provide design engineering for managed WAN and LAN devices. Create templates to reduce the amount of time in developing engineering documents and configurations for implementation. Attain Cisco certifications (CCNA, CCNA-Voice, CCNP, CCIP), as well as certifications with Juniper (JNCIA-ER, JNCIS-ER). Provide training and extend lessons learned on various design and complex engineering implementations to the team. Reviews and corrects design requirements for the team. In-depth understanding of IP networking and engineering skills. Understands process as well as methodologies for getting things done; uses sound judgment when decisions need to be made. Flexible, accountable, independent, and is results oriented. Excellent communication skills and documents well. Demonstrated familiarity with Project Management tools and methods. Knowledge of business processes (e.g. ITIL, Project Management) and the impact thereof on the technical environment.
