High level of support focused on design, installation, lifecycle engineering and general support of complex IP-based hardware/software, database and application systems in support of the Beltway/GARD Program. The NEC researches, supports testing, and adapts software and hardware technologies for adoption within the Verizon Beltway Program.  Coordinates with multiple groups, organizations and personnel to ensure customer requirements are met.  Supports test planning process as well as coordinates testing activities based on test plan and test procedures. Supports customer implementation and troubleshooting when standard processes fail. 
Supports testing of new components with various Verizon groups and documents new standard operating procedures as required.  Communicates new processes with required teams.
Interacts with vendors and Verizon engineering groups to identify technology strategies for full lifecycle... covering end of life migrations as well as new technologies. Given customer performance and availability requirements, the NEC documents and coordinates custom solutions for external customers.  Provides risk analysis documentation when reviewing new customer solution proposals. Assesses Verizon's ability to support and makes recommendations regarding level of commitment, service level agreements, and support models.  Working with design engineers and vendors as required, creates maintenance and upgrade plans for complex scheduled maintenance activities. Interfaces with the problem management group to investigate and document root cause analysis for incidents that result in a service disruption.  Identifies and documents root cause analysis for incidents that result in a service disruption.  Drives execution of new provisioning/activation tasks to bring customers onto the GARD service. Candidate will need to analyze technology, coordinate projects, document procedures and system states, and transfer knowledge.
20% travel a possibility.  Some local and some to various locations within the US.

Requires a broad range of skills within a professional discipline to effectively perform complex assignments; demands familiarity with principles, theories, concepts and technologies as well as applied knowledge of established procedures, policies and practices. Experience and expertise with CISCO or JUNIPER, and other networking technologies.
 
Strong understanding of internet technologies.
Strong oral and written communication skills required for internal and external communication, at a range of technical levels. 
Strong project coordination and ability to achieve self-directed results.
BS degree in technical field
CCNA or similar network certification
Ten or more years of experience in supporting telecommunications and network services in enterprise environment.
