JOB FUNCTIONS: 

       Responsible for the maintenance and repair of the facilities structure and infrastructure equipment

       Specifically responsible for all technical site infrastructures and emergency back-up systems

       Responsible for all preventative maintenance, testing and repair associated with site infrastructure equipment, including electrical, DC Power Systems, AC Power Entrance Facilities, UPS, Generators, HVAC, plumbing, heating, cooling and ventilation

       Other responsibilities may include but are not limited to maintenance of fire systems, elevators, cooling towers, chiller systems, boilers and BAS (building automation systems)

       Responsible for emergency response, including emergency action plans, site emergency response plans, portable generators and restoration trailers

       May perform trade work such as carpentry or painting in the construction, repair or alteration of structures such as walls, roofs or office fixtures

       May work with outside contractors on facilities and equipment repairs

       Responsible for periodic or special inspections of the premise to determine repair work necessary

       Work is completed from blueprints, drawings or sketches

       Oversees and/or directs work of vendors

RESPONSIBILITES: 

       Ability to manage and perform preventive maintenance and repairs on HVAC, building, and electrical equipment

       Experience with diesel generators, load banks, urea injection, medium and low voltage transfer/distribution equipment, uninterruptible power supplies, power distribution units, remote power panels, air handler units, CRAC/CRAH HVAC units, dry coolers, DX units, cooling towers, and chilled water units is a plus

       Knowledge of Andover or another industry standard building management system is required

       Knowledge of PL SCADA or another industry standard power monitoring system is required

       Manual dexterity to operate machinery, and the ability to read and comprehend instructions on machines and equipment

       Substantial walking, standing, sitting, and unhampered mobility, in order to react quickly in an emergency situation Applicants must possess the physical capabilities and stamina to perform above-mentioned tasks

       Demonstration of good communications skills, both oral and written, and ability to supervise others

       Ability and willingness to be CPR and First Aid certified

       Manage the Facility/Power Installation Department to ensure all customer deployments of electrical whips, conduits, distribution boxes, and junction boxes are completed on time

       Must possess vast experience in Collocation Facilities Operations

       Manage and provide day-to-day guidance to all assigned Facilities Operation Group personnel

       Provide written weekly status reports to direct management of VGE Operations

       Manage multiple incidents from customers and project teams for customer deployment and internal infrastructure support

       Work closely with customers, vendors, and other systems professionals in order to identify issues with the mission critical infrastructure  

       Support design validation testing, planning, and installation/setup procedure development

       Reporting of the status of the mission critical infrastructure systems to local management and operations support teams

       Adapt operations procedures to the data center infrastructure supporting the site and develop new procedures as necessary for the proper operation of the mission critical infrastructure

       Work with building owners in all aspects of the management of the mission critical infrastructure

       Escalate to appropriate group whenever mission critical infrastructure outages occur or assistance is required

       Contact key personnel whenever major failure occurs

       Document any provider-level maintenance windows that will be service-impacting

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:   

       5-years of hands on experience preferred

DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE: 

       Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degreed highly desirable                                         

       Experience would be practical hands on practice within the facilities related data center operations

       Knowledge level typically requires power calculations to derive watts per sq.. ft.., fundamental HVAC calculations to determine CFM required for proper cooling of equipment, and calculating linear feet for equipment and materials

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS: 

       Requires a broad range of skills within a disciplined area to effectively perform routine and/or complex assignments; demands knowledge or established procedures, policies and practices

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: 

       Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree Required

       Requires minimum of 2 yrs.. experience
