Job Description:

The VMware ESX Engineer will be responsible for the evaluation, installation, and maintaining VMware within a multi-vendor hardware environment. Plan, install, maintain and ensure the reliability and security of the VMware software. Provide input to system architecture and new system designs. Provide support for Disaster Recovery efforts including data replication.

Candidate will be responsible for the following:

         Install, implement, and manage VMware ESX Server Infrastructure and support software/services. 

         Create Capacity Management reports and recommend new hardware/storage requirements as necessary.

         Develop scripts/tools necessary to extend the functionality and automate day-to-day management of the services.

         Implement, and support High availability/Disaster recovery solutions for VMWare server environment to provide tiered service offering.

         Function as one of the key technical resource and work closely with customers and Business Units to deploy application servers in a secured environment.

         Conduct technical review for application system selection, implementation, capacity planning, and disaster recovery.

         Provide technical support to applications, operations, and networking in the areas of system software and development tools usage, applications performance tuning, and problem analysis.

         Install, implement, and manage Windows server operating systems, and support software/services in Windows infrastructure.

         Support server infrastructure including blade chassis, blade and rack servers, and the associated Management services.

Requirements: 

           5+ years of current VMware experience

         5+ years of ESX hosts experience

         5+ years of recent VMware systems design and engineering experience

         Experienced with creation and administration of Linux or windows VMs

         Strong Disaster Recovery and data replication experience with VMware products.

         Enterprise systems management applications experience with VMware VSphere, ESX/ESXi hosts, and Workstation within distributed environments

         Strong customer services experience  

Soft Skills: 

         Ability to deal with project managers and follow up on issues and outages.

         Advanced understanding and ability to implement security best practices.

         Ability to develop test plans

         Highly motivated and detail oriented with a proven ability to prioritize work and manage projects from inception to completion on tight deadlines.

         Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to develop strong relationships with various internal clients and listen/understand their needs.
