Senior Software Engineer with a minimum of 3 years experience with VMWare ESX (3.x, 4.x), HP Enterprise Class Blade Server technology, HP Virtual Connect, and Storage Area Networks (3PAR preferred) with a focus on system design, implementation, installation, testing, and troubleshooting of monitoring. The successful candidate will work on the Verizon Cloud Computing product offerings.

Candidate will need to have experience with one or more monitoring applications e.g. Openview, Netcool, Nimsoft and SCOM. Candidate will ensure the integration of monitoring software, hardware, reliability, maintainability, and other requirements in supporting the virtualization suite. Will work with a variety of industry vendors and personnel and will assist with integration and documentation efforts when needed. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, install, test and troubleshoot all monitoring components of the Verizon Cloud Computing product offering
  • Actively participate in planning, coordinating, and implementing monitoring on Windows, Unix operating systems and applications related to the Verizon Cloud solutions
  • Further enhance platform automation capabilities
  • Work with teams to architect complex monitoring solutions leveraging cloud solutions to meet customer requirements
  • Interface with internal teams, external vendors, and onsite customers as needed
  • Hours are very flexible and vary due to the business needs of a geographically dispersed 24/7 organization
  • On-call duty is essential for Tier 3 support
  • No more than 20% travel is required

Required Skills & Experience:

We require a seasoned IT professional with extensive experience in administering and architecting monitoring for Cloud computing, as well as extensive experience in working closely with application administrators and vendors. Applicants should have a very strong background in designing monitoring solutions, exceptional troubleshooting skills, and a passion for coaching others.

  • 3 to 5 years of experience directly related to the skills described
  • 5 years of monitoring support in enterprise and e-commerce production environments
  • Bachelors or Associates degree
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Must have strong customer service qualities
  • Team player with focus on company results
  • Ability to define, verbalize and train others on troubleshooting strategies
