Systems Engineer Firmware - Drivers
As a Systems Engineer your objective is to evaluate, optimize and manage the hardware, firmware and related Operating System-based driver configuration standards of Terremark's systems management infrastructure.
Responsibilities include:

Evaluation, implementation, development, optimization and ongoing maintenance & administration of assigned systems

Documentation and maintenance of related policies, processes and procedures within your areas of responsibility

Managing projects and communicating project status, risks and resource needs required to achieve your assigned objectives to management

Monthly review of hardware vendors' websites for newly released firmware and driver packs
-
Audit & evaluation of newly released firmware and driver packs for applicability to production systems
-
Development and testing of deployment process & procedures in lab environment
-
Submission of Change Request for deployment to applicable production systems
-
Level-3 escalation for rollout-related incidents or problems

Assistance with incorporation of newly released firmware and driver packs into build automation processes
You are expected to maintain a working, interactive relationship with both internal and external customers to gather requirements and to address escalated concerns. You are expected to stay current and proficient on emerging technologies through self-study and internal training, and meet all internal certification standards for skill sets identified within the realm of responsibility. As a member of a 24x7 technical support team, you must be available for after-hours critical escalations.
Required Skills & Experience:
-
2-5 years of broad-based IT experience with strong technical knowledge of network, hardware, storage, operating systems and applications. Specifically VMWare, Cisco, and SAN experience

3+ years of customer-service experience (non-technical field preferred.)

Excellent documentation, communication and interpersonal skills

Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities

Ability to efficiently prioritize and organize competing work demands with little oversight

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS/CIS), or related degree
Desired Skills & Experience:

Industry-related certifications a plus

Excellent written and verbal communication skills
-
The ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
