Role and Responsibilities:

As we look to expand our existing Cloud infrastructure an opportunity has opened up for a seasoned Cloud / Virtualization focused Specialized Engineer with exposure to the CaaS (Computing as a Service) arena and technologies. In this role you will have End-to-end responsibility for the launch and operation of Cloud Services. You will be the lead technical virtualization specialist for implementation, deployment, and customization of Verizon CaaS and Cloud offerings.

Note: Japanese OR Korean language skills are required for this position as 25% of clients supported are Japanese and Korean MNCs.

Primary Skill:

MUST: 5 years of experience administering and architecting VMWare installations.
10 years of UNIX systems administration on large implementations.
5 years of application support in enterprise and e-commerce production environments.
3 years of storage system administration (EMC or 3Par).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent problem solving skills.
Must have strong customer service qualities.
Team player with focus on company results.
Ability to define, verbalize and train others on troubleshooting strategies.
Experience with Veritas and other clustering technologies.

Secondary Skill:

BS in technology: EE, CS or other engineering field
ITIL certification: at least Practitioner, Manager preferred
10 years of IT management
Experience in managing multi-national teams
Experience in managing operations teams
Experience in planning and implementing process improvement frameworks. ITIL, SAS, COBIT, SOX, ISO.
Solid understanding of concepts of large eCommerce and Enterprise environments, including 3-tier web commerce infrastructure, J2EE application platforms and related services.

Responsibilities:

Provide Tier 3 support for virtualization problems across our customer base: Incident, Change and Release Management.
Serve as escalation point for all issues that Tiers 1 or 2 need help with.
Define technical practices and procedures, and provide training for Tiers 1 and 2.
Provide technical leadership to ROC staff in real-time and hands-on. Mentor junior and mid level ROC employees.
Observe ROC staff in their technical delivery. Analyze ticket work logs. Mine the Remedy ticket system for data on specific types of problems and the performance of specific individuals. Design and execute skills assessments of ROC staff.
Create training plans, compile training material, hold training classes, create Computer Based Training modules lab exercises, and assess the effectiveness of the training.
Provide recommendations for process improvement.
Review service delivery failures (quality, speed), identify lessons learned and address them in training and coaching sessions, both individual and on a team basis.

General Skill:

Business level English and Japanese OR Korean language abilities.
Excellent verbal and written communication.
Excellent knowledge of ITIL concepts, and experience with applying them to real-world solutions.
Exceptional ability to both structure and present information ranging from data to process documentation and executive summaries.
Ability to create data queries and program automatic reports with your own means (ODBC, Perl, shell scripts, cron, ssh/scp ).
Ability to discover database schemas of management tools (Remedy, Open View etc.) with little to no support from developers or DBAs.
Ability to assess the impact that process or tools changes will have on operations service delivery, and to measure such impact.
Able to build productive relationship with little support.
Generally requires a BS degree in a related discipline or equivalent experience
